Eastern Bank selected Margulies Perruzzi Architects as their branch design partner as they look to redefine their retail branch banking program. As teller transactions decrease and the use of electronic banking options increase, Eastern Bank knows their current and future branches must evolve. MPA is working with Eastern Bank in their latest branch in Cotuit (part of Barnstable) to provide a design that embraces the use of technology and decreases the necessity for paper, all while maintaining the level of personal touch and customer service for which the bank is known.
After fully researching Cotuit and learning who the customers are exactly, MPA provided a design with purpose. The design places express transactions directly in front of clients as they enter the space, and during less busy times allows staff to welcome them with immediate visual contact. During busy times, clients could check in at the kiosk, and then browse the areas around the perimeter, get a cup of coffee, or get information about the bank’s other services.
The ATM vestibule is larger than is typical, with sliding glass doors that open to allow it to become part of the branch. MPA’s design clearly shows customers where to go when they come into the branch, so that they can go directly toward whatever service they need.
